    • A Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist® (CDCES®) is a health professional who possesses comprehensive knowledge of and experience in diabetes prevention, prediabetes, and diabetes management. The CDCES® educates, supports, and advocates for people affected by diabetes, addressing the stages of diabetes throughout the lifespan. The CDCES® promotes self-management to achieve individualized behavioral and treatment goals that reduce risks and optimize health outcomes.

With over 18 years experience, Anne has focused her scope of nutrition to apply it to chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes and hypertension). She is a Certified Diabetes Educator. She also has a passion for working with athletes to fuel workouts for a variety of sports. She has been employed many years within community and clinical settings. Her philosophy includes coaching, counseling and empowering individuals to improve health, performance and reduce risk for chronic disease by making simple dietary changes. Anne’s areas of professional expertise include nutrition for wellness, diabetes, disease prevention, sport performance, optimal health, and sustainable weight maintenance. Anne loves to empower her clients to reach their potential by achieving balance through nutrition, exercise and stress management. Her philosophy is to be fit, fueled and well fed.

In addition to counseling clients for Nourished Lifestyles, Anne is also adjunct faculty at the University of Southern Maine, teaching a variety of nutrition courses. Outside of work Anne is an avid athlete, sports enthusiast and mother of three girls. She enjoys swimming, biking, running, and participating in local road races and triathlons. She has completed five marathons including Boston and most recently completed a 70.3 mile triathlon. She is passionate about raising money for the Maine Cancer Foundation and enjoys being with friends and family. She takes joy in spending outdoor time at the lake boating, water skiing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and relaxing in the sun!
